Reliable orientation and optimum safety in the ski area

Round or diamond-shaped information boards on the sides of ski slopes and ski routes mark all safe descents in a ski area and clearly separate them from the open, unsafe ski area. The boards display clearly understandable information based on their location on the edge of the slope/ski route, their color, the number or the arrow symbol:

• The skier is on a groomed, controlled slope or appropriately secured ski route that is protected from atypical dangers, especially avalanche danger.
• On the piste boards, colors indicate the degree of difficulty of a downhill run depending on its terrain gradient. An easy descent is marked with blue signs, a moderately difficult descent with red signs and a difficult descent with black signs.
• The number on the piste and ski route board shows skiers which piste/ski route they are on in the ski area and where they will end up after the descent.
• In addition, edge marking arrows on both sides of a piste or ski route mark the course of the secured descent in the ski area.
