sitour was founded in 1965 in Innsbruck, Austria, by Professor Peter Schröcksnadel. From the very beginning, the winning intuition was to combine information, orientation and advertising in ski resorts, laying the foundations for a new way of communicating on the slopes. With its innovative signage and safety systems, sitour quickly became a world leader in the industry.
1980 - The founding of sitour Italia
In 1980 sitour Italia was founded as a branch of the Austrian parent company. Right from the start, the Italian mountain market responded enthusiastically, thanks to the growing demand for solutions for orientation and safety on slopes, as well as for dedicated advertising space. This marks the beginning of steady growth, rooted in the most important tourist resorts in the Alps and Apennines.
The 1990s - Development and Consolidation
In the 1990s, sitour consolidated its presence on the Italian territory, contributing to the visual identity of ski resorts through an increasingly extensive network of advertising facilities and information systems, becoming a reliable interlocutor for national and international brands. It was during this period that Dr. Michael Mattesich joined the company, taking over management and bringing a new strategic impetus. Under his leadership, sitour introduced for the first time a unified signage system in the Dolomiti Superski area, marking a fundamental step towards standardisation and safety on the ski slopes in one of the largest ski areas in Europe.
2010 - Digital evolution
From 2010 onwards, sitour accelerated the development of Digital Signage, introducing new dynamic digital communication tools that allow for more flexible, up-to-date and impactful messages. This evolution has further expanded the customer portfolio and opened up new perspectives in the world of outdoor communication in the mountains.
Today
The company, still led by Dr. Michael Mattesich and with a wonderful team at his side, continues to innovate, holding firm to its founding values of quality, reliability and passion for the mountains. With over 200 customers per year, sitour Italia is today a strategic partner for those who wish to communicate effectively, safely and innovatively in Alpine tourist destinations.
